Here's an article about coaching I think you will find interesting. Email me with your comments and questions. I can send you the original, just ask.

An accountant client of mine thoughtfully sent a recent issue of The New England Financial Journal to me. It contained an article about executive coaching as a hot commodity for people at all levels in the business world. Everyone is striving to achieve some goal, be it to move up the corporate ladder, improve as a manager, start a company, or just perform a job better. There is gap that is created between our current skill level and where we dream of being in our lives. More people are realizing the benefit of getting help to fulfill those dreams and goals. This is the work of the executive coach. The coach is no longer confined to working with people who are either heading towards derailing from their jobs or who need some "charm school" to get their next promotion.

In the past five years, there has been a democratization in the scope of who receives coaching. The process involves middle managers and entrepreneurs as well. Actually, when CEO's and top people recognized the value for themselves, they wanted it to filter down into their company.

The employment contract has changed. Since people no longer have guarantees of long term employment, what can a company do to attract and retain talented people? One solution is to offer a meaningful investment in a person's career development, through including coaching among the employment perks. This is a new form of demonstrating commitment to a talented employee. The company is banking on the pay-offs of improved retention and heightened commitment to the company.

Interested in exploring the potential benefits of coaching for your organization or business? Let's talk.
